You have probably stood in front of our tents before and thought: "Is this actually a tent for the garden, or can I also take it out into nature?" That is one of the questions we get most often – and fortunately, the answer is not either-or.
But there are differences. And they are worth knowing before you decide what you want to use your tent for.
The short answer: Our glamping tents can do both
Amaroq's glamping tents are made from a durable cotton material designed for both environments. They are waterproof, breathable, and built to last for many years – whether they stay in your garden all summer or are taken along for a weekend trip to the woods.
Still, there are some practical differences between the two use scenarios that are worth considering.
Glamping in the garden – the stationary oasis
If the tent is mainly going to stay in the garden, it is all about comfort and aesthetics. Here, you do not have to think about packed weight. You can put a real bed inside, hang lamps, lay down a nice rug, and furnish it exactly the way you want.
Garden use is actually the area where our tents really shine. A glamping tent made from cotton blend fabric breathes in a way that a nylon tent never can – which means the indoor climate stays pleasant even on warm summer days, and morning dew does not build up inside the tent.
Advantages for garden use:
- Can remain set up for a long time without being damaged
- Allows permanent furnishing with furniture, rugs, and lighting
- The children have their own retreat all summer long
- No constant packing and unpacking
- Easy access to toilet, kitchen, and power outlets in the house
What you should keep in mind:
- Place the tent in the shade if possible – the cotton fabric is robust, but direct sunlight all day will wear on it over time
- Ensure good ventilation so that moisture does not build up under the tent – a Footprint helps a lot with this
- Remember to reproof the tent once a year with Nikwax Cotton Proof
Glamping while camping – when the tent has to come along
Our tents can easily be taken along for camping. They are equipped with strong guy lines and solid pegs that keep the tent stable – even when the weather does not cooperate.
However, it is worth mentioning that a glamping tent is heavier than an ultralight hiking tent. This is a deliberate choice: the quality and indoor climate of the cotton material require substance. So if you are one of those people who cycle to the campsite with everything on your back, our tents may not be the right choice. But if you drive to the campsite by car – which most people do – the weight is not a problem at all.
Advantages for camping:
- Fantastic indoor climate – even on warm summer days
- Robust construction that withstands European summer weather
- Looks significantly nicer than a regular camping tent
- Can be taken back home afterward and set up in the garden again
What you should keep in mind:
- Check the campsite rules – sometimes there are restrictions on tent size
- Bring a rain cover if you expect persistent rain over several days
- Let the tent dry thoroughly before packing it away – cotton must never be stored damp
Which size is suitable for what?
If the tent is mainly to be used in the garden as a permanent summer lounge or an extra bedroom, Medium or Large is ideal – enough space to furnish it properly without taking over the entire garden.
If you want to go camping with the family, Large or XL is a good choice – plenty of room for air mattresses, luggage, and a cozy living area that stands out clearly from the neighbors’ blue nylon tents.
If you want to enjoy a bit of luxury at the campsite alone or as a pair, Small or Medium is easier to transport and quicker to set up.
The best of both worlds
That’s exactly the beauty of a Amaroq Glamping tent: you don’t have to choose. Start the summer by setting up the tent in the garden. Take it with you on a camping trip in August. Set it up again in September, when the autumn sun still hangs low and warm over the garden.
A good tent is not made for just one situation – it is made to be used.
